Description:
A WebQuest is an Internet-based learning simulation for students. Learn all the steps to create a true WebQuest, based on Bernie Dodge’s original model. Discover background and research that demonstrates the use of WebQuests as an effective learning strategy. Explore and evaluate existing WebQuests and learn to build your own using PowerPoint and my.uen as tools for publishing the completed WebQuest. This intensive, fully-online class runs for six weeks and requires six hours of work each week for two credits.
Pre-requisites:
To gain the most from this course, you should:
- Have some experience with the use of the Internet
- Understand the basic functions of the computer: save, copy, and paste

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Understand the research support for the WebQuest model and the key elements of a WebQuest that make it a proven effective tool for learning.
- Select an appropriate topic and design for their WebQuest.
- Design the WebQuest, including researching for and selecting appropriate Web sites.
- Describe how learners will be evaluated.
- Publish their WebQuest for students to use.
Things to bring:
Topic or curriculum goal for which you can develop a WebQuest, and reference materials for that curriculum area, such as teachers’ editions, files, books, handouts, and other resources.

Assignment:
Develop a complete WebQuest. Complete incremental assignments and participate in discussions and other activities in the online environment.
