Description:
Are you nervous about computers? Unsure how to incorporate technology into your classroom? Need some review or beginning instruction on effectively using the Internet and online resources with your students? If the answer to these questions is yes, then this class is right for you. This two-day workshop is for beginning level technology users with limited experience or confidence who wish to incorporate multimedia presentations and online tools into their teaching. Participants use several of the “smart tools” provided by UEN and learn to incorporate PowerPoint presentations, digital cameras and the Internet into existing lesson plans. Engage in lively discussions about the effectiveness and importance of technology in school as well as how to teach to the multiple intelligences of modern students.
Pre-requisites:
To most effectively use class time, basic computer and Internet skills such as searching and copy/cut/paste are helpful. Accommodations may be made for those with no computer experience.

Upon completion of this course, participants will:
- Understand a variety of strategies for integrating technology tools in their content area curriculum.
- Gain skills to use technology for improving their professional and personal productivity.
- Evaluate and select appropriate technology tools and resources to support student learning.
- Feel comfortable assigning a technology-based project to students.
- Develop a technology-infused activity, lesson or unit that draws on the concepts and skills covered in the course and requires students to interact with technology.

Assignment:
Using the UEN Lesson Plan tool, develop an activity, lesson or unit that incorporates technology, concepts and skills learned in class. You should include the following fields in your lesson plan: Summary, Curriculum Tie, Materials (include attached files and/or links to Web sites as needed), Intended Learning Outcomes, Instructional Procedures, and Assessment Plan.
Be sure it is clear how this lesson fits into your curriculum. You may include a brief explanation of the context for the lesson in the Summary field, if it is part of a larger unit or project. You must use at least two "technologies" discussed in class, and the lesson must include students' interacting with technology.
