Description:
This online course is the equivalent of the in-person course of the same name. It may be taken instead of, or in addition to the in-person course.
This course is the second in the Dreamweaver series offered by UEN Professional Development as part of the Web Academy. We focus on the graphics necessary to create an effective website. Discover the terminology and concepts necessary for discriminating use of equipment, software and images in the digital world. Using Fireworks software, learn to edit and enhance digital photographs. Develop your own images, buttons, text, fills, and live effects to graphically enhance your Website and learn keys for optimizing your graphics for the most efficient Web application. The main project for this course is to design a new graphical layout for your site and implement it within Dreamweaver.
Pre-requisites:
To gain the most from this course, you should have an understanding of how the Internet works, and completion of the Dreamweaver Part 1 course or equivalent is preferred.

- Create more effective websites with original and appropriate graphics for enhancement.
- Use Fireworks to create and edit graphics for websites.
- Use advanced Fireworks techniques to create website layouts.
- Implement layouts and graphics into Dreamweaver.
- Edit, enhance and prepare digital photographs.
- Create Buttons, Logos, and Titles.
- Use Fireworks drawing tools.
- Apply strokes, fills, and live effects.
- Use layers and frames.
- Optimize graphics for fast downloading.

Assignment:
A pre and post reflection writing assignment will be required of all participants.
Create and edit graphics for use on your school or classroom website. This assignment can be completed on an existing website by updating it with skills learned in this course.
Graphics should include:
- Title graphic or banner
- School or classroom logo
- Navigation Buttons
- Edited photos
- Masked images
- At least 3 edited content specific images
