Description:
This online course examines many of the dangers that arise regarding the safe use of Internet and computer technologies in educational settings. We outline the risks and dangers to kids, discuss important terms and technologies and present viable solutions so that both students and educators can use the Internet and their computers safely.

Upon completion of this course, participants will:
- Recognize and understand serious threats students face when using the Internet
- Know important terminology and concepts regarding Internet and computer safety
- Examine strengths and weaknesses of different strategies for safe Internet use in schools and at home
- Be able to effectively apply strategies that minimize risky Internet use by young people
- Identify agencies and organizations that can provide ongoing resources and aid in providing safe use of Internet and other computer resources

Assignment:
Participants will complete weekly activities, reading and viewing assignments, submit written assignments and projects, engage in discussion and other activities as directed in the online course environment.
